uth E. Carter is a two-time Academy Award nominee for Spike Lee's Malcolm X and for Amistad. She has collaborated extensivley with Lee, making her debut with School Daze, and going on to design costumes for Do The Right Thing, Mo' Better Blues, Jungle Fever, Crooklyn, Clockers and Summer of Sam.
Carter most recently designed the fashion-headline-making costumes for Shaft, and previously worked with director John Singleton on Rosewood. Her other credits include Price of Glory, Love and Basketball, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, What's Love Got To Do With It and The Great White Hype.
